It sure feels like there’s a lot of change in the air right now, don’t you think? While in lockdown things felt silent and static, as a quiet fell over us. Now, as shops and bars open (and in some parts of the world close again), and schools return (or don’t), it’s like a rollercoaster.

For some change can bring uncertainty — but the thing is, even before Coronavirus, life was never certain. That’s one of the things that mindfulness practice teaches us: to live within the knowledge that every moment is different from the next, feelings come and go, things are never the same. The BBC have recently released some amazing resources for kids — featuring the amazing Lorna Walker! Links below.

So, as things unfurl around you, why not try finding some time to sit amid the storm around you, as if in a greenhouse, watch as it swirls around and see what is actually happening inside you. Like they say, the blue sky is always there! Check out the video from Headspace below.

And if your little ones are feeling the change too, or anxious about starting back to nursery, preschool or school, then why not get them to sit with you — you can try our Pause Button exercise for free. Even a few minutes of breathing can help to settle your internal systems. Even just taking time out to talk to them about how they are feeling and reassure them that feeling this way is normal, talk to them about how you cope with it (this is how kids learn to cope — from you!), and remind them that you’re in it together.

If you’re a practitioner, or working with young people, you can use most of our Wee Seeds exercises in a nursery setting and we know from our trials with nurseries that staff feel they brought a sense of calm to the childcare setting.

Stay grounded.

Love, the Wee Seeds Team
