Bringing some Corona Calm: new resources page launch
Meditation can relieve anxiety, improve emotional health, help overcome feelings of isolation, and has even been linked to boosting immune systems due the knock-on effect generated by its capacity to reduce stress levels.
While meditation can settle our minds and help us understand our mental and emotional response to the current pandemic, mindfulness is a tool that can help us frame these current events. A really interesting article on Mindful.Org summarises, “Mindfulness is not a barrier to feeling overwhelmed [… but it] helps us cultivate a way to respond” to stresses and situations.
So, we at Wee Seeds wanted to create some resources specifically for families targeting the stresses and emotional turmoil of lockdown, self-isolation and the general uncertainty within society.
Specifically aiming to encourage calmness, promote sleep and foster gratitude, we are very proud to present the Wee Seeds Covid-19 Emergency Resource page, a new addition to our digital toolbox.
Our Covid-19 Emergency Resource page contains:
· Our flagship exercise, the Pause Button, which introduces families and wee ones to the concept of mindful breathing, noticing their breath and slowing down.
· A new relaxation exercise from our friends at Glasgow-based Yoga Dots to help your little ones settle before sleep and bring some calm to their bodies.
· Our Stay-At-Home Mindfulness Challenge: a 28-day calendar of daily activities which aims to build mindfulness and meditation into your families’ routine
· A downloadable PDF exercise for our Gratitude Jar exercise. This ‘homemade’ activity introduces the concept of gratitude and encourages mindful awareness.
· Access to the Wee Seeds Covid-19 Family Handbook, a spreadsheet filled with resources to support families through this period.
· Parents’ CoronaCalm exercise. This Finding Peace in Uncertain Times meditation is brought to you by Mindfulness Connected Learning. We are delighted to feature a parents’ exercise on Wee Seeds for the first time!
